URGENT ACTION REQUIRED TO PROTECT AUSTRALIAN GREY NURSE SHARKS
Incredibly in April this year, the New South Wales Government decreased protection for the critically endangered grey nurse shark and opened up some of this gentle cruiser’s critical habitat areas to recreational fishing.
And right now, the NSW Government is considering where to go next with grey nurse shark conservation. They need to hear it shouted from the rooftops that these threatened creatures need the greatest protection possible. They need to be told to increase, not decrease safeguards for this species.
Please help the NSW Government write the chapter that ensures grey nurse sharks live happily ever after - take a few moments to send in a submission telling them to ensure NSW becomes a safe haven for grey nurse sharks. We only have until Friday 26th August to make a public comment.
Our vision
We envision a world without shark finning.
We envision a world where human practices demonstrate an understanding of and respect for marine ecosystems and their preservation while gaining sustenance for human beings.
We think forward to a time when people will see our connection to the shark and the importance of creating a healthy, balanced marine ecosystem for both the species within it and for ourselves.
We imagine generations ahead enjoying the abundance of resources and beauty of the oceans.
Your voice
At Majestic Aquariums, we believe it is vital to protect marine species from human activities which threaten their survival and stop shark finning. Show your support by signing the Australian Marine Conservation Society’s petition to the Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities, Hon Tony Burke MP. Use your voice to safeguard the future of Australian sharks and persuade our politicians to show global leadership on the issue of shark conservation.
Join with us at Majestic Aquariums to stop shark finning!

I look forward to the day that this practice is banned within Australian waters.
So do we!
A Great initiative Majestic aquariums, keep up the great work
and never stop fighting for what’s right.
Thanks! We’ll do our best!
Sharks shouldn’t die because of humans. People say that they’re man eaters, but people should really think about us all for a change, we eat many animals and tons of people eat shark… Sharks may attack humans at times but, most of those rare occasions it’s our own fault. So, the people who think that sharks are terrible and should die, think about us as human beings, we are at the top of the food chain so if sharks are terrible what are we?
There are only a handful of shark species out of the hundreds out there, which have been known to attack humans. Of these attacks, a lot of anecdotal evidence points to the fact that sharks will often bite, then let go, as though they don’t actually like the taste of a human. These attacks often happen in predictable places and times of day, and while it’s unfortunate that sharks bite humans, it can be avoided.
The amount of sharks killed by humans every year is totally disproportionate to the amount of humans killed by sharks. Even if we don’t consider this, there is one thing which we should – sharks are part of a marine ecosystem upon which we rely. Healthy, balanced ecosystems are our support systems and it is essential to protect them.
Great post, I love animals myself, always have.
There’s always something we can learn from them as well.
it is important to respct the culture but at the same time we have to acknoledge our selfishness!!!
I look forward to the day when this practice is banned within all of the planets waters! After all, these waters do not belong to any coutry BUT they belong to the whole planet!
This is a great initiative Majestic aquariums, keep up the great work PAUL and never stop fighting for what is right.
Ignorance of the facts is what allows these actions to continue!
Hello, this is 2011 & it is about time this whole thing stopped & the world realised what a finite resource we live with & satrt to repect it!
One step at a time, & this cause is an important step!!
Cheers,
Phill
